Deborah begins the show with some information about egg and chicken consumption and why free range really is best; then she describes a chicken rescue which began when 30 or so chickens bound for slaughter after a year of forced egg production(up to 5 per day when they are still immature and should not yet be producing any). These birds lucky for them avoided slaughter and ended up at camp good dog to live out there lives with true free range habitat and diet (bugs and all). They had there first taste of sunshine and standing outdoors on Sunday when they chose to leave the coop and flock to the sunny spots – Deborah is happily surprised at how quickly they are adapting to real life after factory life and no stimulation, no freedom even to move for so long.
