From the grassroots to Washington and beyond, the realities of politics and power are routinely cloaked in euphemism and evasion. This program goes much deeper than the surface spin to examine what's really going on -- and what's really at stake -- for people and the future of life on this planet.

A blow was dealt to Net Neutrally supporters last week with the District Court decision that theFCC has no authority to regulate broadband service providers. To preserve internet equality it is now up to the FCC to reclassify the internetas a telecommunications networkrather than an information network in order to have the authority to regulate it. Visit www.freepress.net or www.savetheinternet.org for more information and to sign the petition to the FCC.
This program featured an interview with foreign correspondent Reese Erlich, who talked about the significance of the recently leaked video that showed the killing of two Reuters news employees and 10 other Iraqi civilians from the air by the U.S. military.
What is Retired Congressman Eric Massa’s Relationship With Paul “Swifboat” Singer and Vulture Financers? Christiane Brown interviews BBC investigative reporter Greg Palast – to discuss Eric Massa’s relationship with PaulSinger, the man who funded the “Swiftboat” attacks against John Kerry. Right wing Republican and Vulture speculator Paul Singer finances a group called, The American Task Force Argentina that is trying to push through H.R. 2493 - The Judgment Evading Foreign States Accountability Act. This bill would help Vulture financers to cut off trade with poor countries that do not pay them. Vultures buy up the right to collect on old loans made to the world's poorest nations for pennies on the dollar and then sue the countries for payment. Amazingly NY Congressman Massa – not a Republican was chief sponsor – of this bill. The question is why? Greg Palast explains.
Jane Hamsher founder of Firedoglake.com and author of the book Killer Instinct joins Christiane Brown to discuss President Obama’s signing of the Health Care Bill and why it is a seriously flawed piece of legislation that forces the American people to purchase a defective product.
Also we discuss how our political process has broken down to such a degree that we are being asked to celebrate the passage of bad bill while the need for truehealth carereform is being ignored.
Recently President Obama pledged $8.3 billion in new loan guarantees needed to build the first nuclear reactors in nearly three decades.
But in 2007 during his run for the Presidency, Senator Obama stated that, due to theunresolved issues of safety issues and storgageand enormous subsides from the government to build the plants,he was "not a nuclear energy proponentand was "much more interested in solar and wind and bio-diesel."
Why has President Obama changed his stance on Nuclear power and what does his relationship with Exelon Energy, his second biggest campaign contrubutor and the largest operator of nuclear power plants in the United Staes, have on his decision?
Vulture Funds - Also we discuss Greg Palast’s recent report on Vulture Funds -Financiers that buy up the debt of poor nations cheaply and then sue for massive profits. Last month in Britain lawmakers passed a bill to restrict so-called “vulture” finaceers from suing in their courts.
In the US there is no restriction on vulture financiers suing in court, butPresident Obama and the US congress could change this.
My guest tomorrow will be Laura Bonham from PDA's Global /Environmental Issue Organizing Team. We will be discussing the Climate Change denier's absurd claims that the recent snow storms in Washington DC are "proof positive" that there is no global warming. Of course science has shown that unusual weather is a result of global warming. We will also discuss cap-and-trade legislation stalled in the Senate and Rep. John Larson's bill, the America's Energy Security Trust Fund Act of 2009 and why it has been that has been endorsed by PDA.
