Richard Martin
Wake-Up Call
Mondays at 10:00am and Fridays at 10:00am
Richard Martin has been working in the financial services arena for over thirty years. The thrust of his interest is the small investor, buffeted, as he/she has always been, by the vagaries of the Wall Street finance machine which is constantly in the quest of encouraging investors to adopt the buy-and-hold investing technique, long since discredited by market activity.
Richard has lived in many countries including the U.K. of which he is a citizen, Sweden, France, Spain, the U.S., Argentina, Venezuela. He and his wife have been living in Singapore since July, 2009.
Richard studied music in London at the Royal Academy of Music before turning to the financial services industry where he got his start in Paris with Smith, Barney, Harris, Upham in the mid-70s. He managed the Paris office of Refco, the then-largest futures commission merchant in the world for several years before moving to Refco's New York office. He has since worked with Morgan Stanley in California and Florida.
Richard Martin's Wake-Up Call aims to lift the fog surrounding economic issues by uncovering the vicissitudes of those responsible for our economic future. The show tries to reveal the incompetence of those entrusted with financial decision-making and also attempts to offer solutions for those with savings which are threatened by the economic crisis. Richard uses history and current trends to extrapolate the future and alert people to the pitfalls of financial planning. The Wake-Up Call is designed for people with little or no prior knowledge of finance and encourages listeners to submit their questions and concerns to the show.
