Topic: US HUMANITARIAN SHIP “AUDICITY OF HOPE” SHIP TO GAZA THREATENED BY ISRAEL, WITH US APPROVAL
Guest: Leslie Cagen – Activist, writer former National coordinator of United for Peace and Justice
A flotilla of 10 ships to Gaza (including one with 50 US passengers) carrying humanitarian aid and letters of support has been threatened with boarding and possible violence by the Israeli Government.
Though the ships will be in international waters and will be violating no law, the Israeli Government has vowed to intercept them as soon as they set sail.
The United States Government, through Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has condoned the Israeli position though there is no legal basis for Israel to intercept the ships and prevent them from delivering humanitarian supplies.
Last year, 100 armed Israeli soldiers illegally boarded the humanitarian ship the Mavi Marma ship bound for Gaza and the resulting violence took the lives of 9 passengers.
As the flotilla makes ready to get under way activist Leslie Cagen discusses the latest development, including the detention of the US boat and possible sabotaging of two others. And what will happen if Israel once again commits violence against peaceful activists.
