Guest: Dan McKanan
Dan McKanan is the Ralph Waldo Emerson Unitarian Universalist Association Senior Lecturer at Harvard Divinity School, where he specializes in the American history of religious and spiritual movements for social transformation. Before coming to Harvard, he served as department chair and associate professor of theology at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University, where he began teaching in 1998. He has written on the theological understandings of violence and nonviolence among pacifists and radical activists and Catholic social activism.
Dan’s most recent book is Prophetic Encounters: Religion and the American Radical Tradition, from Beacon Press, that provides an all-encompassing history of American religious activism for social transformation.
