The aim of having nuclear power plants is to make plutonium 239 for atom bombs. The rest is PR to entrench man-made radioactive elements in the economy. There are many non-toxic ways to turn a wheel and make electricity.
Burying nuclear waste WILL NOT make nuclear power 'safe'! On the contrary, it has already leaked out of containments at Hanford, Washington and will permanently damage all DNA!
I heard there were several close calls for starting a world wide nuclear war on false information.
