June 14, 2010 David Smith, a Fulbright Scholar is Educational Outreach Officer for the United States Institute of Peace. This Federal Agency has been in existence since 1984 and is involved in international conflict resolution and peace building.
Discusses ways of building peace in conflict zones around the world. The Institute gives money to NGOs that are working on behalf of resolving conflict and promoting peace. He also discussed that the concept of a Peace Institute was first written about by individually by George Washington, Benjamin Banneker and Benjamin Rush.
The Institute is funded by Congress in an unappropriated sum of $30 million. Institute of Peace experts talk and educate around the US at various locations.
