The Gary Null Show - 11/15/11

Guest: Jim Gerritsen

Jim Gerritsen is the owner of Wood Prairie Farm in Bridgewater Maine, where he has grown organic seed potatoes for over 35 years. He is also the president of the Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association, and was named by Utne Reader this year among the 25 people who are most changing the world.  He was the founder of the Organic Crop Improvement Association in the 1980s, and formerly served as president of the Organic Seed Alliance.

In role with the Organic Seed Growers Association, Jim has spearheaded a lawsuit on behalf of 270,000 family farmers, gardeners and consumers against Monsanto, to challenge their patenting rights to seeds and crops and to protect organic farmers from contamination and destruction of their livelihoods and commitment to organic foods due to the infiltration of genetically modified crops.
