February 17, 2012 Prof. Thomas Bryne Edsall is one of our nation’s most respected political journalists and commentators, having covered every presidential election since 1968. For 25 years his columns appeared in the Washington Post and he is now the Joseph Pulitzer and Edith Pulitzer Moore Professor of Public Affairs at Columbia University’s School of Journalism and hosts an online 2012 election column on the New York Times website.
Prof. Edsall has published five books on America’s political atmosphere. His most recent book is “The Age of Austerity: How Scarcity Will Remake American Politics” which clearly defines the extreme polarization that has unfolded between Democrats and Republicans, as well as within the American public.
