Mike asks listeners for fundraising help for the care of New White Trash bandmate Doug Lewis as Doug continues his long battle with cancer.  Mike answers listener questions and discusses the implications of the Rawesome Foods Raid and the Kelly Thomas beating in Los Angeles.  The big question: is the US gov't trying to instigate civil unrest

I just got back from a 72 hour permaculture course, taken because it was the only positive thing I could do in the little time we have left. Mike, you REALLY need to channel your followers to this sustainable way of living. There is a ton of information on the web about it, there are instructors all over being trained and sharing the knowledge. Try to get up to speed about the PEAK PHOSPHORUS situation and know that the industrial agricultural model is nearly as dead as the soil your caller was trying to grow fruit trees in. Don't till, pull weeds or fertilize and learn that Round-up is like heroin. Learn to observe what weeds are trying to show us, and chop and drop them over the food plants you are encouraging to grow.

An excellent book, Gardening When It Counts, by Steve Solomon will get you up to speed very quickly on the topic of gardening for yourself or a few others and how to do it wherever you are, using just hand tools, and discusses soil composition and fertility, making your own complete organic fertilizer to boost the nutritional content of your food, because that's what it takes; seed quality and seed saving. Also, Steve's method does not use intensive growing techniques, resulting in lower water usage, lower yields, but higher-nutrient quality food. I'm reading it slowly to digest it all. Lots of stuff you need can be "scrounged," but do buy the best quality garden tools possible, i.e., good quality metal (should not file down to nothing when you attempt to sharpen the tools like hoes, shovels, etc) or you're throwing away money. And take care of the tools you do have-- they may need to last a long, long time.

I never understood why no one else in Congress would stand next to Ron Paul. I wanted Kucinich to win when he ran because I think he's also good, but we have to have some kind of Leaders who do understand the situation regarding the Siamese Twins of Energy and Economy. It will be interesting to see "White Out," if this is an extrapolation of how the collapse will affect governments, that it will just "fade away," and how that impacts society. There's a saying that vacuums get filled-- WHAT is going to fill the void once our current gov'ts "fade away?" Who will THAT be, anyone want to discuss this? Haven't we had it by now with The Power and Money Masters? Why let any of their ilk rise again to power? I guess if there are no more resources, NO ONE is going to "be in power?" And what can we expect about how money is going to work? I haven't been reading anything from Catherine Austin Fitts lately but I have a strong hunch now is the time.

Anyone out there willing to expose the massive Weather Wars we all know about via the unclassified 1996 Air University report, Air Force 2025? Everyone's read the chapter titled "Owning the Weather in 2025," by now, right? How is THAT going to impact our ability to grow food? Rosalind Peterson, former crop loss adjuster for the state of CA, now environmental impact analyst at Agriculture Defense Coalition and California Skywatch had much to say on the subject at the March 28th, 2011 symposium at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, titled Man-Made Climate Change in the Skies, about "geo-engineering," which is even sicker than fracking!!! Check it out at commonwealthclub.org. I think people will survive in the cracks. But if you still think that food comes out of plastic bags or boxes, you're goose is cooked.

Ah... Gardening Tips Day, I see!

Well, in that case..

I guess if you can 'own the weather' then you can also 'own the greenhouse'; which will probably work out OK for some, but doesn't bode well for those in 'non-developed' areas.

Now for a real gardening tip...

Take a 55 gallon drum, painted black, and fill it a third way full of your favorite manure mix, and the rest with water. Put a lid on it and set it in the sun, somewhere between your neighbor's plot and yours, while you're out doing your planting. Then any time during the season that you want to give your veggies a quick feed, just mix about a half-cup of the mix per gallon of water and pour it on. Your plants will love you for it; and your neighbors will move to another county.

@David-was that a joke? If you don't have aeration, the stuff will kill you.

August 1, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterCF Mathews

Well, you're not supposed to DRINK it, CF! LOL

No, that's not a joke. That's an old gardener's trick, which came to me courtesy of my girlfriend's grandpa. MY dear old grandma's trick was an old galvanized trash can, that she kept inside of a wooden box out behind the garage, which she would throw all of her meat scraps in. Same basic idea... let it get good and smelly, then spread it around your vegetables.

A little bit of STINK never hurt anybody! :-)

JULY!

JULYYYYYYY!!!

JUUUULLLLLYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Your 80% accuracy was shot to hell at least a year ago, and now, my boy, well... you aren't "batting" anywhere NEAR those numbers. Why don't you cool it with the blatantly fraudulent nonsense and stop trying to sell yourself as some indispensible Cassandra? Hang up your hat and let yourself fade into serene obscurity while you still have but a shred of dignity left?

I see Beavis and Butthead of the Blogosphere are BAAACK. Yo, Fostker, yer talkin bout "manure tea." Yes, "nicefarmer," this is a LEGIT thing, done in gardening all the time, but Beavis, or is it Butthead, has to make a STINK everywhere he (it?) goes. Probably eats a lot of McDonald's, Wendy's, Jack-in-the-Box, and "cooking" is eating cold tamales right out of the can so, everyone, you see, it doesn't matter what the hell he thinks he "knows" about real gardening.

So, sheezieshoozie, you must be at least what? Twelve? Twelve-and-a-half? What could you possibly know about farming?

Here's something interesting to listen and think about for those who take Mr. Ruppert's predictions seriously:

nicefarmer

its no longer july as you've pointed out it is august 3rd and the DOW has dropped 500 pts.

August 4, 2011 | Unregistered Commenteranonymous

@david Don't mean any disrespect, but those don't sound like good ideas to me. That is how disease breeds-it has to be done right.

"We Have Until July - Even a Caveman Can See It"

"This is the most important economic story of the day. It all falls apart by July, as I warned you in early April. --MCR"

"I told you... We have until July at latest before everything comes undone. I stand by it. -- MCR "

These are only three among many, many more. I saved them specifically for this occasion (which even a caveman could see coming).

A 500 point drop in the DOW is a far cry from TEOTWAWKI.

Here's what The Khazarian snarking TROLL "Da-veed Fos-cker" knows about gardening:

Plus something about manure tea that anyone who's been gardening, even 12-year-olds, know...

Showing, of course, all His Great Knowledge of Master Gardening, at least a Ph.D. in botany....
