Time out of mind, the police have met peaceful or legitimate protest with gratuitous violence. And in the process-- India in the 20's and 30's, Selma, a thousand places in the 60's, and now on Wall Street, we see that the police are the final expression of corporate/government power.
And, by their vicious behavior, they're doing us all a favor. What often would be a simple, limited march or protest turns into a revolution when the real power shows it's teeth.
