PFC Bradley Manning and Wikileaks

Is anything permissible, any law or rule to be broken, to give the American public the information about the wars fought in its name?

Is the giving of the documents to Wikileaks the same as Daniel Ellsberg giving the NY Times the "Pentagon Papers?"

When is the violation of the laws of national security a patriotic duty and when is just a treacherous crime?

Another great show, Mike. You pack a lot of thoughtsful talk into an hour. I appreciated your seeing the Bradley Manning story as more complex than simply hero or villain, as the mainstream media is presenting it. I read that NYT article and it was helpful hearing the highlights again with your commentary. Reading articles straight through wouldn't necessarily be good radio, but providing listeners an "annotated edition" drawing attention to details easily overlooked makes for good, informative radio, so I hope you won't shy away from that in the future. Looking forward to next week's show. -- Gary in Omaha
