Today’s guest Kimberly Santini is linked up with deborah wolfe, pet expert on Facebook if you want to see her gorgeous paintings of dogs, cats, horses, cows and more. Her website teaches artists her own technique by sharing with your snapshots of works in progress. Have you ever thought of doing something every day no matter what? Kimberly paints a dog a day, every day and there is a whole movement of artists doing the same. Learn how she brings the feeling and personality of the animals to her work and get some advice from an extremely sensitive and gifted artist. Plus Deborah invites you to send her your mutt pics so she can play the ‘what breed of dog is that?’ game. Thanks to Jeff for sending his pic of an unknown newly rescued dog for Deborah to identify. You Are What You Eat: Did you know a working dog probably caught Bin Laden? Deborah explains how military dogs are working in war plus she tells you of some very happy pet reunions in the wake of the American Tornadoes. Lynn Kavanagh from the Canadian Coalition for Farm Animals joins us to talk about overcrowding, long journeys, quality of life and health issues for the animals and the people who eat them. Chickens, pigs, and cattle are all kept in small indoor enclosures so crowded they can't do basic things or even move properly. Think about what you are eating and how your shopping is effecting animals raised to feed you. How long is a pig or cow kept without food or water before it reaches its new home to be fattened and then killed for meat? Did you know that the store bought eggs you get come from chickens who live only one year and are kept indoors the entire time with such overcrowding that they cannot even stretch their wings. You can get better eggs( better for you and for the hens). Lynn helps us figure out how to shop for food that won't be cruelty raised.
