Timothy Karsten, with a law degree from USC Law Center & a degree in Political Economics & International Relations from Berkeley, has been working with business and non-profit leaders, wealthy individuals and families to help them challenge limited beliefs in their roles as cultural and civic leaders and stewards of wealth, especially related to business, philanthropy, economic, and environmental sustainability.

Timothy has been a student of philosophy as well as the most recent advances in physics and brain science to better understand the complex interaction of human potential. Timothy is also the author of Destination Freedom Newsletter.

Mitchell is also joined today by Stuart Valentine, President of Centerpoint Investment Strategies & who is an active participant in the Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Movement. Stuart is involved in asset management, deal structuring & placement for Green Private Equity.

Based in Fairfield, Iowa, home of the Transcendental Meditation global movement and Maharishi University of Management (MUM), Stuart has been a practitioner of the TM Siddhis program for 30 years. He serves as adjunct faculty in the MUM business department and an active member in the meditating community.

Stuart is also Co-Director of The Sustainable Living Coalition (SLC), a non-profit whose mission is to educate & demonstrate workable models in sustainable living. A graduate of the Evergreen State College’s Renewable Energy Systems program in 1982, Stuart also earned his MBA from the Maharishi University of Management in 1986.

Coming to understanding of how to transform business from a destructive to a constructive force for good, how profit can be measured in multiple ways (triple bottom lines) and not just money, and bringing awareness in a deep way to our business life and monetary transactions is the subject of today's show.

Mitchell will also discuss the Call to Action regarding the FDA's attempt to subvert standing legislation which protects Americans' access to nutritional supplements.

Last, we'll look at the area of hydro-fracking again and reference to the importance of reinstating Glass-Steagall, as we've discussed numerous times on this show. The show will educate and then elevate us into action.

The first half of today's show will continue the theme of the FDA's current effort to subvert standing legislation which protects our access to nutritional supplements. To stop this madness, we need an enormous public outcry immediately, or forever hold our peace. In this light, a member of the Alliance for Natural Health will be joining Mitchell on the air to discuss this & to give you a clear Call to Action.

The second part of today's show, long-time colleague & friend, the Founder & Board Chair of We, The World, Rick Ulfik, will be speaking about11 Days of Global Unity, which we're in the middle of right now, with events occurring all over NYC and globally. Rick is also a Principal Coordinator of the WE Campaign and Co-Founder and Principal Organizer of 11 Days of Global Unity Sept. 11-21, an annual convergence of more than 700 associated events in over 60 countries around the world launched by We, The World in 2004.

Rick also co-produces Visual Voices a TV Series Co-Sponsored by We, The World which was originally featured on the Dish Network and available in 15 million homes. Rick organizes and promotes scores of events and other better world activities, large and small, every year. He is also an award-winning composer, musician (keyboards), songwriter and sound design specialist who, over the last 30 years, has written, produced, arranged and/or performed music for ABC TV, NBC TV and CBS TV, the Olympics, feature films, & major recording artists including Queen Latifah, Phoebe Snow, Carlos Santana, Judy Collins & Bernadette Peters.

Monday, 6pm EST, Sept. 12, 2011:Today's show is dedicated to two vitally important subjects: first is our covering the FDA's attempt to de-rail legislation that protects our right to nutritional supplementation. If the FDA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Monsanto & Big Pharma Inc., would, in effect, define nutritional supplementation as drugs, thus limiting its availability only through physicians. Next is lettuce and tomato!  To discuss this today is health advocacy lawyer and founder of www.citizens.org, Jim Turner.  Jim has been involved for decades in challenging the FDA on numerous points as they uphold Big Pharma over their mandate, which is to provide consumer protection.

If we do not defeat the FDA’s efforts here, this would position us much like Europe, where Codex was recently passed and now, after a long thousand + year tradition of natural medicine, herbs and homeopathy, Europeans cannot access these simple remedies except through a doctor.

This is a call to action: we must barrage the phone lines of our representatives with our demand that this madness be stopped (seewww.abetterworld.net for specific language and phone #'s.)Immediately or forever hold our peace.

Second, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the pulverization of the WTC, Mitchell will speak with 9-11 Truth facilitator & leader, Les Jamieson from Brooklyn, NY who has studied the alternative research into 9/11 since November, 2001. Les has attended 9/11 Commission hearings, including those by the NIST investigation into why the buildings collapsed, which has given him an up close realization of the depth and scope of the official cover-up.

Les has been central in planning several large 9/11 symposia around the country and here in NYC. He was a main organizer for the 3-year long film series at St. Marks Church on Sundays in New York's east village. Next, Les was a leading organizer for the NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative which sought to empower the voters of New York City to call for the establishment of a new, independent investigation of 9/11. Those who have not scrutinized the subject but just accepted the official version will have the opportunity to understand what happened from a whole new point of view, based on evidence and science, not belief system or political persuasion.

The FDA is Still in the Way

It's so wild--we are living our lives, enjoying them, struggling with them, dealing with the ebb and flow, the ups and downs, the call to center and authenticity which is the process of daily life itself. It's bumpy, harry, messy, sad, happy, clear, cloudy and anyone honest with themselves is a weave of numerous feelings, emotions, thoughts and ideas daily. While we are busy with our tasks at hand, at the job, in the family, in the relationship, we are also seeking, in our own ways, to create a better life for ourselves and those around us in our varying orbits and spheres of influence. And while we are busily engaged, there are corporations who are buying politicians, members of the FDA and others, to control our access to our choices of nutrition and even food.

Mitchell's guest today is the renowned Pulitzer-prize, best-selling author and journalist Chris Hedges. His latest book, The World As it Is: Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress, is the primary topic of today's show. Chris Hedges has been an outspoken critic of the American Empire and the corporatization of government, the consolidation of power into the hands of the very few at the expense of the vast majority of people, here and across the world.

Having been a war correspondent in Central America, Africa, the Balkans and the Middle East, having seen war and bloodshed up close over the course of years, Hedges' perspective is searing, his knowledge formidable and his opinions compelling. Perhaps most compelling is his commitment to the truth.

Chris blasts the powers that be that control the media and have emptied it out of its contents, replaced by celebrity news and entertainment. Chris Hedges was one of the NY Times leading journalists for 15 years when, due to their unwillingness to engage truthful reporting, he resigned. Tune in for a lively discourse between these two impassioned speakers.
